The 6th of November was the beginning of WellBeing week. Many speakers came in to tell us how to keep our mind and body healthy.
The first speaker that came in to talk to us was Simon Harris who is the Minister of Health. He explained to us how it is just important to be mentally fit as physically. Simon Harris also showed us the new revised food pyramid. He explained to us how we need to to eat so muc fruit and vegetables that it is now mar important than our carbs.
The next speaker we had was Alison Canavan. She told us about how eating different and meditation changed her life. I really enjoyed her speech as her personal anecdotes made it very interesting and I was able to understand the presentation better. She talked about how she used to be a model and that she was always depressed and she only became ‘Fun Ali’ when she was inebriated. She had a very eventful life and she only now knows what she wishes to do with her life.
Our final speaker for WellBeing week was a man named Stephen from Aware. He spoke to us all about things that make us stressed and how you deal with things that cause you stress. I enjoyed this speech as it was interactive in the fact we got to work in groups to talk about how certain things would affect our thoughts, feelings and actions.
Overall I learnt a lot about mental health and physical health during WellBeing week, I feel I really benefited and will use the advice I learnt from the speakers in the future.
